Hercules in the Haunted World (1961)

Italian mythological horror film from 1961 (original title Ercole al centro della terra), directed by Mario Bava and produced by SpA Cinematografica; the archive record notes it was shot at Cinecittà on sets from earlier Hercules pictures. Reg Park (Mr. Universe 1951, 1958 and 1965) plays Hercules and Christopher Lee the villainous King Lico: to save Princess Deianira, who has lost her mind, Hercules descends into the underworld for the Stone of Forgetfulness. This copy is the English-subtitled version on the Internet Archive (1280×542, about 86 minutes; the Italian release ran 93). The record carries no licence field; this site relies solely on the Chinese and Malaysian 50-year rules. Under Article 23 of China's Copyright Law and Section 22 of Malaysia's Copyright Act 1987 the film entered the public domain 50 years after first publication; its US renewal status has not been verified and it will be taken down on receipt of a rights objection.
