Hercules and the Captive Women (1961)

Italian-French mythological adventure from 1961 (original title Ercole alla conquista di Atlantide, released in the US as Hercules and the Captive Women), directed by Vittorio Cottafavi and produced by SpA Cinematografica. Reg Park — Mr. Universe in 1951, 1958 and 1965, and the early idol and later mentor of Arnold Schwarzenegger — plays Hercules, who sails with King Androcles of Thebes to investigate an omen threatening Greece, is washed ashore on Atlantis and runs into Queen Antinea's (Fay Spain) plans of conquest. This copy is the English-language version on the Internet Archive (640×292 widescreen, about 94 minutes; the original ran 101), carrying a Public Domain Mark 1.0 on the record. Under Article 23 of China's Copyright Law and Section 22 of Malaysia's Copyright Act 1987 the film entered the public domain 50 years after first publication; its US renewal status has not been verified and it will be taken down on receipt of a rights objection.
