Colossus and the Amazon Queen (1960)

Italian sword-and-sandal comedy from 1960 (original title La regina delle Amazzoni), directed by Vittorio Sala and produced by Galatea Film, Glomer Film and partners. Ed Fury, who came out of the Muscle Beach bodybuilding scene (third and second at Mr. Muscle Beach in 1951 and 1953) before making a run of peplum films in Italy, stars as the strongman Glauco alongside Rod Taylor and Dorian Gray; tricked onto a sea voyage by his friend Pirro, Glauco ends up on the island of the Amazons in the middle of a fight over the throne. This copy is the English-dubbed version on the Internet Archive (640×480, about 80 minutes; the Italian release ran 98), marked public domain by its uploader. Under Article 23 of China's Copyright Law and Section 22 of Malaysia's Copyright Act 1987 the film entered the public domain 50 years after first publication; its US renewal status has not been verified and it will be taken down on receipt of a rights objection.
